White Gold Art Deco Filigree Ring with Hexagonal Opal
White Gold Art Deco Filigree Ring with Hexagonal Opal
SKU:33300057
This beautiful Art Deco bauble is a survivor! The owner of this ring must have treasured and taken excellent care of it, as it looks pristine. The central Australian grey opal is predominantly blue with subtle pinfire plays of pink, orange, and green. It is cut into an unusual elongated hexagon, or coffin cut, then wrapped in a thin white gold bezel. The entire ring was crafted through the die-struck process, which produced thin yet durable mountings that could then be finished with intricate filigree designs. This would have been at the height of fashion in the 1920s, as it is today.
Details: 18k white gold ring with approximately 1.50ct hexagonal opal (Australian, grey base) and filigree accents, circa 1925.
