Vintage Octagonal Gold Dangle Earrings with Diamond Centers

These earrings were made from a single cufflink - the perfect way to recycle them into something even more wearable! We removed the cufflink chain that linked the two octagons and added French-style ear wires to the top. The octagonal gold discs are a study in fine goldsmithing, as they are crafted in solid 14k yellow gold, then rimmed with an overlay of carved platinum, and centered with a platinum and diamond collet. The diamonds are beautiful, old mine-cut diamonds with lots of character. The yellow gold area between the rim and the diamond has been treated with an acid wash, resulting in a satin-like finish and a darker, more yellowish color, similar to that of 18k items, which were popular in the teens. The result is a fantastic pair of earrings - perfect for clients with mid- to long-length hair, seeking a classy, vintage pair of gold earrings that feature diamonds, adding just a hint of sparkle.
