Vintage British Gent's Ring with Peacock Hued Black Opal

Opals have captivated collectors for hundreds of years- male and female alike. While women often wear opal jewelry, we occasionally see a masculine gem that calls out to be set in a man's ring, perfect for the collector of the opposite sex. What makes an opal masculine? This natural Australian black opal, featuring deep blue, green, and violet "peacock" hues, is a perfect example. There is no lack of color here, but the colors are rich and understated against a dark background. While we have custom-made many opal gentlemen's rings, this one came to us from a British estate, and we just had to offer it to our opal-collecting clients.
