This stunning antique pendant is designed to be enjoyed alongside a rich glass of wine. Crafted in patinated yellow gold around the 1870s, this piece was originally both a pin and a pendant; however, the pin stem has been removed at some point in its history.

At the center of the pendant is a sizable orange citrine, the birthstone for November and a stone associated with the sun gods. The oval-shaped pendant is beautifully adorned with powder blue turquoise cabochons arranged in grape clusters, complemented by grape leaves that wind around the citrine. We believe this pendant pays homage to Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, fertility, and agriculture. The design, featuring grapes, grape leaves, and a citrine "sun," was particularly popular during the Romantic era of the Victorian period, when Greek and Roman themes flourished.

Regardless of its origin, this eye-catching antique pendant makes a perfect gift for the wine-loving woman in your life. It comes with an original antique gold chain, but feel free to contact us for alternative chain options.

Details: Antique pendant in 14k yellow gold, set with an approximately 5-carat oval citrine, turquoise cabochons, and engraved detail accents, circa 1870s.
