Two-Tone Green Tourmaline & Diamond Pendant

This stunning pendant features a unique green tourmaline, making it an ideal piece for collectors of tourmalines or rare gemstones. Looking closely at this gem, you will see two colors: a bright green and a dark forest green. This two-tone tourmaline phenomenon is known as “dichroism.” This is not a color change effect or a bicolor gem; instead, the tourmaline crystal bends light at different wavelengths as it is turned, such that one axis looks like one shade, and the other is a different shade. If a dichroic gem is cut just right, at a slight angle to these two axes, then the two shades will blend in the same gem. This green tourmaline was custom-faceted into a cushion shape that perfectly sits on that line between the two shades, resulting in a bright gemstone with multiple shades of green. We set this in a classic white gold mount, with a few diamonds for sparkle, so attention stays on this rare and beautiful tourmaline.
