Transparent Green Omphacite Jade & Diamond Pendant

This stunning freeform jade pendant comes to us from Japan, where we discover some of our rarest estate jewelry. Japanese consumers are renowned for their exceptional gem collections, and we often find unique pieces in second-hand shops like this one. This particular jade is a subtype of jadeite—the rarer, harder, and more expensive jade variety. The GIA refers to this type as “omphacite jade” due to its distinctive crystal structure and darker green hue, which lies somewhere between jadeite and maw-sit-sit in composition. This exquisite piece of jade is highly translucent, featuring gentle mottling and a rich forest green color, enhanced by small diamonds set in a custom white gold frame.
