Red Spinel Pendant 14kw s.45ct d.08ct si1

This charming pendant features a vibrant Burmese red spinel, prized for its rich color that closely resembles the finest rubies. Natural spinel rarely forms in large sizes because the trace element chromium, which gives the gem its vivid red color, also slows crystal growth. Thus, we had to get creative with our mountings; in this case, we made a custom frame for the spinel, which was set between two channels of white gold. The top of the pendant, where a standard bail would typically be found, is instead a beautiful fleur-de-lis style accent with an elegant curlicue twist. This gem comes alive in natural light (see picture number three), where flashes of pink and orange emanate from the deep red gem. Wow!
