Rare Hyalite Opal Pendant "Daylight Fluorescent Opal"

If you’re a fan of rare opals or enjoy the black-light rave scene, this rare fluorescent opal pendant may be the thing for you! This rare gemstone is known as a Mexican hyalite opal, a subspecies of fire opal that can be faceted in fine quality (this one is particularly fine and large for the species). The opal is colorless and transparent but reacts to UV fluorescent light, producing a neon green glow (think highlighter green). This first image shows the pendant under a black light; the latter two are under standard LED lighting. These can also be called “daylight fluorescent opals” since they are so reactive to UV that even a minor amount of UV spectrum in daylight causes a subtle green glow. Cool, right? Due to the eye-catching opal center stone, we kept the white gold pendant more straightforward, accenting the opal with a trio of diamonds for sparkle.
