Rare Antique Rose Gold Jugendstil Ring with Rose Cut Diamond
Rare Antique Rose Gold Jugendstil Ring with Rose Cut Diamond
SKU:88810737
This antique engagement ring is truly captivating. It features an original 1900s German Jugendstil mounting made of beautiful rose gold. The Jugendstil movement, which is considered a precursor to Art Deco, aimed to incorporate organic and natural themes into traditional and symmetrical designs. In this ring, the sides are symmetrical and angular, adorned with delicate leaves and vines.
Originally, the ring was set with a damaged center diamond, but we have replaced it with a period-correct rose-cut diamond. This diamond has a flat back and a faceted top, designed to catch the soft light of a candlelit dinner. It is set into a crown-style head, showcasing an excellent example of a solitaire engagement ring from the early 20th century.
It's important to note that the gold has a different hue than modern rose gold; while it's not as pink, it also doesn't appear yellow. This northern European rose gold is highly coveted for its unique color.
Details: Antique engagement ring in 12k rose gold, set with a natural .74ct rose-cut diamond (SI1 I, 6mm round) and Jugendstil details, German, circa 1900.
