Rare Antique Rose Gold Jugendstil Ring with Rose Cut Diamond

This is one of the most interesting antique engagement rings for sale. It features an original 1900s German Jugendstil mounting in beautiful rose gold. The Jugendstil movement is considered a precursor to Art Deco, where designers attempted to incorporate organic and natural themes into more traditional or symmetrical designs. In this case, the sides of the ring are symmetrical and angular yet accented with small leaves and vines. This original ring was set with a damaged center diamond, so we replaced it with this period-correct rose-cut diamond. The diamond is flat on the back but faceted on top, designed to catch the light of a candlelit dinner. Set into a crown-style head, the ring is an excellent example of a solitaire engagement ring from the early 20th century.

Note—the gold is not as pink as modern rose gold, but it is certainly not yellow either; this northern European rose gold is a coveted color.
