Mystical Black Opal & Enamel "Crystal Ball" Ring

This ring grants the wearer the ability to look into the future—okay, maybe not, but it is seriously cool. The round yellow gold ring features a cabochon black opal set in a wide bezel adorned with hand-inlaid glass enamel accents in an elegant Etruscan design. The enamel work extends onto the shoulders of the ring. Despite its age, the ring remains in excellent condition, showing only minor enamel loss.

The highlight of this piece is the Australian black crystal opal, which is set against a dark, mysterious background and displays a stunning flash of blue-violet. This is a solid opal—not a doublet or triplet—and it changes color as it moves, giving it a captivating, almost mystical quality. It’s not far-fetched to compare it to a crystal ball, as the opal is truly mesmerizing. 

Based on its design and markings, we believe this ring was crafted in Europe during the 1930s. Originally worn as a right-hand ring, it can also serve as an engagement ring, provided it is worn with care.
