Mystical Black Opal & Enamel "Crystal Ball" Ring

This ring grants the wearer the ability to look into the future- okay, maybe not, but it is seriously cool. The round yellow gold ring features a cabochon black opal in a bezel setting. The bezel is wide and features hand-inlaid glass enamel accents in an Etruscan design, and the enamelwork continues onto the shoulders of the ring. Despite the ring's age, it remains in fabulous condition, with only minor enamel loss. The shining star here is the Australian black crystal opal, set against a dark and mysterious background, with a flash of blue-violet. This is a solid opal, not a doublet or triplet, and it changes color as it moves, giving it a mystical quality. It's not too far off to call this a crystal ball—the opal is genuinely mesmerizing. We believe this ring was made in Europe in the 1930s based on the design and markings. Originally worn as a right-hand ring, it can also be viewed as an engagement ring, provided it is worn with care.
