Georgian jewelry is rare, but it is incredibly exciting when we encounter it! This original antique ring, dating back to around 1800 or slightly earlier, is a prime example of Georgian craftsmanship. The ring features a solid sterling silver collet-style setting atop a delicate gold band. The setting has a closed-back design that showcases a natural cabochon lapis lazuli in a stunning shade of cobalt blue. The gem is securely held in place using a combination of bezel-setting and tab prongs. The underside of the collet is beautifully detailed with intricate scrollwork and hand-engraved designs. Though the setting showcases exquisite craftsmanship, it's the sizable lapis that makes a striking impression—ravishing, rare, and carrying over 200 years of history.
Details: Original antique lapis ring in low-karat gold (approximately 10-12k) with a sterling silver collet setting, featuring an oval cabochon of natural blue lapis measuring 12x14mm, Georgian, circa 1800.
