French Art Deco Jade & Diamond Monogram Pendant
French Art Deco Jade & Diamond Monogram Pendant
SKU:33300227
This stunning antique carved jade and diamond pendant is poised to become your new statement piece. Crafted in France during the 1920s, this exquisite item represents the height of fashion from that era. It features intricately carved jade that nods to Orientalism and geometric diamond lettering reminiscent of the Art Deco style. The pendant’s large size and playful design made it particularly appealing to the flapper crowd.
The piece is made of 14k yellow gold and showcases a floral design adorned with seed pearls, which form a framework surrounding the central jade and platinum panel. The jade is a masterfully carved piece of natural jadeite, exhibiting a lovely celadon or mint-green hue. At the center, riveted into place, is a platinum and diamond plaque bearing the initials “ELG” (notably spelled as EGL; the customary practice of the time was to place the last name initial in the center).
This sizable pendant measures 2 inches in length and would have been worn low over a black dress. It is truly fabulous!
Details: Antique pendant in 14k yellow gold and platinum, set with carved jadeite jade (natural color, semi-translucent, lightly mottled green) with 0.50 carats total weight of round diamonds (SI1 IJ) and seed pearl accents. France, circa 1925.
