This original Art Deco ring mounting came to us unset and as new old stock from a retired jeweler's collection. Featuring intricate filigree work and delicate split claw prongs, the design called for a strong focal gem—true to the era, we chose a natural blush zircon as the centerpiece. Zircons of all colors were mined in Sri Lanka and gained popularity in the 1920s and 1930s. This particular gem is sourced from modern African deposits and showcases a sought-after rosy hue that blends pink, brown, and purple, reminiscent of soft, natural-toned makeup.
While the blush zircon has a warm hue, the pinks and purples within the gem stand out beautifully against the white gold setting. The round gem is Portuguese cut, which enhances its sparkle, making it an excellent choice for a right-hand ring, as it complements a variety of colors.
Die-struck rings are crafted through a process that involves stamping and hand-carving from hardened white gold. This technique yields a lighter ring than cast alternatives, offering more intricate detail and enhanced durability.
