This piece is an estate item, but it was painstakingly custom-made out of gold wire for this huge emerald cut amethyst. It's really all about the center gem here, as the gold setting has discreet double claw prongs, a bail that mostly hides behind the gem, and subtle design elements that keep the amethyst as the forward presence. This gem is a fantastic example of the species. It is a medium-dark purple with no unpleasant modifiers or inclusions, just beautiful gem-grade amethyst.
