Art Deco Target Ring with Emeralds & Mine Cut Diamonds
Art Deco Target Ring with Emeralds & Mine Cut Diamonds
SKU:88810757
If you're seeking a quintessential Art Deco diamond engagement ring, this piece is certainly a strong contender. Crafted in gleaming platinum around 1925, it features a large old mine-cut diamond at the center, surrounded by a halo of emeralds, also known as a "target ring." The central diamond is bezel set, providing a low-profile and comfortable fit, while the emeralds encircling it are set in a channel.
The tapered platinum shank is adorned with additional antique diamonds and features intricate engraving on the sides, giving the ring a beautiful antique appearance. Although the target ring design is a classic of the Art Deco era, these rings remain relatively rare due to the high cost of their creation at the time. This ring is especially unique because of its emerald accents, as most target rings were typically set with sapphires.
As this piece is a period original, it is important to note that the emeralds used are calibre-cut synthetics preferred for their perfect match and even color. While initially designed as an engagement ring, its chunky presence makes it versatile enough to be worn as a statement piece on the right hand.
Details: Art Deco platinum ring set with a natural 1.30ct old mine-cut diamond (SI2 clarity, I color), 0.60ct total weight in old mine-cut diamond accents (SI GH), and a synthetic emerald halo, circa 1925.
