A beautiful example of Art Deco-era filigree jewelry, this bracelet dates to circa 1925 and is crafted in a combination of 14k gold and platinum. The design features a continuous series of articulated rectangular links, each individually decorated with intricate pierced filigree work and delicate engraved detailing. Its narrow, linear silhouette reflects the refined geometric jewelry of the 1920s, while the repeating openwork patterns give the bracelet an airy, lace-like quality despite its substantial construction.
At the center of the bracelet is a round brilliant-cut diamond weighing approximately .70 carat, graded VS clarity and I-J color. The diamond is set into its own geometric link and provides a bright focal point among the more intricate filigree sections. Synthetic blue sapphires are incorporated throughout the bracelet in alternating marquise and angular geometric shapes, their deep blue color creating a striking contrast against the white metal. Synthetic sapphires were frequently used in jewelry during the Art Deco period, particularly for their strong, consistent color and ability to be precisely cut into the sharp geometric shapes central to Deco design.
The surrounding links alternate between stylized foliate openwork and geometric sapphire-set sections, creating a wonderfully detailed pattern that reveals something different along the bracelet. Fine milgrain-style borders and engraved surfaces further emphasize the individual links, while the articulated construction allows the bracelet to move comfortably around the wrist. Measuring 6.5 inches long and weighing 11.3 grams, it has a substantial quality that contrasts beautifully with the delicacy of its pierced decoration. The combination of platinum and gold construction, intricate filigree, vivid blue sapphires, and a prominent center diamond makes this a particularly charming example of original 1920s Art Deco craftsmanship.
