This classic antique engagement ring is set with an unusual sapphire- a modern addition to a century-old ring mounting. The classic halo design mount was crafted in America circa 1900 of rich yellow gold and set with large sparkling European cut diamonds. When this mounting came in, it was missing a center stone, so we had fun choosing a new gem to be the focal point of this ring! We decided on the sapphire you see here, paying homage to the popularity of sapphires in antique engagement rings, and because the gold mounting brings out the unusual tone in this gem. The sapphire is blue, but there are color zones of blue and lighter green in the gem, producing flashes of teal. Compared to other sapphires, this gem has a noticeable teal undertone relative to those with a purple hue. The low-profile bezel is perfect for everyday wear and allows you to enjoy this sapphire while still getting lots of sparkle!
