Ultra Rare Tanzanian Mint Kornerupine & Diamond Ring
Ultra Rare Tanzanian Mint Kornerupine & Diamond Ring
SKU:324649
This stunning ring features one of the rarest gems on Earth – natural kornerupine in a beautiful mint-green hue. While many gem collectors may be familiar with kornerupine in other variations, such as the lovely black cat’s eye or the bottle-green and brown shades, the rare mint kornerupine is unique. Exclusively found in Tanzania, some people refer to it as prismatine due to the differing coloring agent, and we have encountered fewer than 20 examples of this gem.
Most gem enthusiasts often mistake this stone for Merelani mint garnet or even paraiba tourmaline, but it is a distinct species. This gem has been expertly faceted into a perfect square cushion and weighs an impressive 2 carats. Mint kornerupine is not only breathtaking but also durable enough for everyday wear in jewelry.
We decided to mount this exceptional gem in a custom setting. The kornerupine is held securely by yellow gold prongs, supported by a platinum band adorned with .45 carats of baguette diamonds (grade VS, color GH). This ring is the perfect choice for gem collectors and rock enthusiasts, making it an ideal engagement or right-hand ring.
Details: Custom platinum and 14k yellow gold ring set with 2ct mint kornerupine (Tanzania, untreated) and .45ctw baguette diamonds (VS GH).
